| Team Topa Honu is a non-for profit organization. We work with local and national outdoor schools to aid people living with limb loss, and paralysis, and other disabilities, in how to maximize their fun on the water. Team Topa Honu is the dream of one man. In the spring of 2007, Sean Fitzgibbon’s
dream began to become a reality. The goal of Sean’s team is to gather inspirational
people living with limb loss to spread a dual message. The message is one that the
love of life continues after amputation. In addition, money sometimes restricts people
living with limb loss to the best prosthesis to continue their happiness.
It is Sean’s vision to use water as the vehicle to carry the hope of the recently
amputated. His team’s goal is to illustrate that people living with limb loss can
remain active. And by raising awareness, he hopes that Team Topa Honu can
cultivate sponsors, and donors, to send other people living with limb loss to see and
compete in the yearly eXtremity Games based in Orlando Florida.
It is with the aid of the media, sponsors, and donors, which Team Topa Honu hopes
to cultivate to, bring light to the unequal balance of how the healthcare providers and
healthcare insurance companies have opposing views on what is in the best interest
of their patients living with limb loss.
